Beans. Beans. Good for your... Mosaic Art!!

Okay, Okay.... perhaps a silly title for a meaningful lesson.  Mosaic is defined as a picture or decoration made of small, usually colored pieces of inlaid stone, glass, etc

We chose etc.  Using a variety of dried beans - straight from isle 4 - students explored this technique dating back over 4,000 years.
After viewing examples, we used simplified shapes and discussed color choices to ensure the end result would be clear and recognizable.  Many students loved touching and building an image one bean at a time. I am always amazed at how different mediums affect students in different ways - this project had some of my more "energetic" kids transformed into focused, goal oriented artists
