Positively Spacey

When learning about Space (one of the elements of art)...we discussed the difference between positive and negative space. When looking at and discussing art, the use of space can have great visual impact.

The area around the primary objects would be the negative space (or background) while the space occupied by the primary objects is known as the positive space.

Our exercise using only black and white allowed us to simplify and also notice the differences between a white or black background.

Students were really "plugged in" (i couldn't help it :) and produced some very nice pieces - They always work hard and I LOVE seeing them succeed!
