Weave only just begun (I know ... but it made me chuckle)

weave [weev] verb

to interlace (threads, yarns, strips, fibrous

material, etc.) so as to form a fabric or material.

When presented to my students I get a very mixed response.... "What's that?", "Yeah - I love weaving", " (sigh) But Miss Leigh when are we doing clay again?"

We explored paper, tissue paper, yarn, and some ribbon and learned terms like warp, weft, loom, and shuttle.

I found that my older and more patient students really enjoyed it and my younger ones struggle a tad with working to completion. Some artists raced to see who could finish first while others were completely content to be a "weaving turtle".

From my over-achievers to my "turtles", all were completely proud when we took them off the loom and most said - Next time I want to try a bigger loom!

Weaving is an art and a skill that we at Studio 110 now have a greater understanding and appreciation!
