Louise Nevelson became noted for her sculptures of "assemblage art". This was art created from odds and ends that were pieced together and painted one color- usually white or black.

She was born in Russia and moved to Maine when she was five. In class we discussed how she felt very out of place but found joy in the arts! This lead to great class discussion - most everyone has had a moment like this!

After viewing her art - we began Learning and exploring with found objects. Its so fun to watch them create something exciting from nothing - the switch in the brain is almost visible. We finished the project with each student choosing which single color I would coat these in. Thus a new art term - monochromatic
